A MOTHER’S DAY MEDITATION

The role of mother needs to be honored and exalted to the high position God intended

At a time when radical feminists, lesbians and the culture are belittling the role of mother’s  -- Christians must stand, defend and honor God’s role for mothers.

2 Timothy 1:3-5

[3]” I thank God, whom I serve, as my forefathers

did, with a clear conscience, as night and day I

constantly remember you in my prayers.

[4]  Recalling your tears, I long to see you, so that I

         may be filled with joy.

[5]  I have been reminded of your sincere faith,

which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in

your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now

        lives in you also. “

A WIFE AND MOTHER OF NOBLE CHARACTER

Proverbs 31:28

“Her children arise and call her

               blessed; her husband also, and

               he praises her”

      We need to remember that

    people of wisdom have long

    recognized the importance of

    a mother’s role.

“ The hand that rocks the

      cradle rules the world.”

                          William Rice Wallace

“ The future of society is in the

       hands of the mothers.”

                                   De beaufort

“ Men may build cities and

       railroads; they span rivers

       and tunnel mountains. But

the mothers of men are the

       builders of civilizations.”

                                   C. A. Stewart

“ The mother’s heart is the

       child’s class room.”

                          Henry Ward Beecher

“All that I am or hope to be, I

     owe to my angel mother.”

                                        Lincoln

“ Mothers write on the hearts

      of their children what the

      world’s rough hand cannot

      erase.”

I. How did Hannah’s son,

Samuel, get his start as a

   great man of God?

   It started with his

      MOTHER’S        PRAYER

1 Samuel 1:27

“I prayed for this child, and  the LORD

has granted me what I asked of him.”

Every child should be the product  of prayer.

Every child should know the power of hearing his mother pray, (seeing their parents faith is so important in raising Godly children.)

     Listen to part of

     HANNAH’S PRAYER!

1 Samuel 2:1,2

[1]”Then Hannah prayed and said: "My heart

rejoices in the LORD; in the LORD my horn is

lifted high. My mouth boasts over my

enemies, for I delight in your deliverance.

[2 ]"There is no one holy like the LORD; there is

no one besides you; there is no Rock like our

            God.”

Vs.8 “…. For the foundations of the  earth are

the Lord’s; upon them he has set the

         world.

Vs.9 He will guard the feet of his saints, but

the wicked will be silenced in darkness.

"It is not by strength that one prevails.”

II. HANNAH RECOGNIZED

     GOD’S OWNERSHIP OF THE

     CHILD.

1 Samuel  1:28

“So now I give him to the LORD. For his

whole life he will be given over to the

            LORD…."

      Our children are a HERITAGE

    from the Lord

Psalms 127:3

“Sons are a heritage from the LORD,

         children a reward from him.”

III. Hannah recognized the

blessing of her children as a

      glorious gift; Godly mothers

      CARE for their children, like

      no one else can.

1 Thessalonians 2:6,7

[6] “We were not looking for praise from men,

not from you or anyone else. As apostles of

Christ we could have been a burden to you,

[7]  but we were gentle among you, like a mother

         caring for her little children.”

The apostle Paul said he could have been tough as nails but instead he chose to be like a mother, GENTLE and CARING

I want to share the context

    where Hannah gave  her son

to the Lord. I hope all will be

    touched by her example of

    motherhood.

           1 Samuel  1: 9-17

                1 Samuel  1:20-28

                1 Samuel  2:1

I hope these thoughts have caused all of us to want to honor motherhood more and that these who still have their mothers, will exalt her with actions and not JUST WORDS.

Mothers are those who:

      - Really care for our

           happiness in life.

         - Who really care for our

             souls.

         - Who listen to every

            heartache.

         - Who are queen of the kitchen; doctor

            and counselor.

         - Who always love.

Proverbs 1:8

“Listen, my son, to your father's

          instruction and do not forsake

          your mother's teaching.”
