HOLY CO-DEPENDENCE:
THE CASE FOR CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP

 

Ø  We were designed for ‘Christian Fellowship’

      - DESIGNED FOR DEPENDENCE

 

Ø  We all hunger for, crave  the ‘closeness’ and ‘community’ God has made possible in the body of Christ.

 

Ø  An awesome truth about our co-dependence is that the closer we get to each other, the closer we are to God!

 

Ø  This Fellowship in Christ, meets deep personal needs;

(1) Counsel (wisdom)

(2) Strength

(3) Accountability

(4) Acceptance

(5) Love

 

Ø  The work of the church and our life together, can fall into (5) basic purposes;

(1) Fellowship

(2) Discipleship

(3) Ministry

(4) Evangelism

(5) Worship

 

Ø  Today, we look at the imperative of real, New Testament Fellowship ( all other purposes depend on the depth and quality of our fellowship)

     

            Romans 12:9-21

                 

 

(1) LOVE ONE ANOTHER

(vs 9,10)  “Love must be sincere; hate  what is

                     evil, cling to what is  good. Be devoted

                     to one another in brotherly love…”

 

(2) HONOR ONE ANOTHER

(vs 10) “…Honor one another above  yourselves”

 

(3) SERVE AND WORSHIP TOGETHER

(VS 11,12) “Never be lacking in zeal, but keep

                      your spiritual fervor, serving the

                      Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in

                      affliction, faithful in prayer.”

 

(4) BE GRACIOUS TO ONE ANOTHER

(VS 13) “Share with God’s people who are  in

                 need…”

 

(5) EMPATHIZE WITH ONE ANOTHER

(VS 15) “Rejoice with those who rejoice;

                mourn with those who mourn.”

 

(6) LIVING IN BEAUTIFUL UNITY AND HARMONY

(VS 16) “Live in harmony with one another. Do not

                be proud, but be willing to associate with

                people of low position. Do not be

                conceited.”

 

(7) BE HUMBLE TOWARD ONE ANOTHER

(VS 16) “… Do not be proud, but be willing to

                associate with those of low position, do

                not be conceited.”

 

(1) Love One Another

(2) Honor One Another

(3) Serve and Worship Together

(4) Be Gracious To One Another

(5) Empathize With One Another

(6) Living in Beautiful Unity and   

       Harmony

(7) Be Humble Toward One

       Another
