THE ATTITUDE OF VICTORIOUS LIVING

The Attitude of Victorious Living

  Psalms 9:1-2

        [1] I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart;

I will  tell of all your  wonders.

[2] I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing

praise  to your name, O Most High.

n    What do you think will be the most influential quality of the Christian upon this world?

   Jesus says it is “LOVE”…..

  John 13:35

“By this all men will know that you are my

disciples, if you love one another.“

n   But what other “traits” will impact people?

                 Doctrine?

             Strength?

n   How about ATTITUDE???

n   Doesn’t attitude often determine a person’s appeal?

n   Today, many think of attitude as a “by-product” of life’s circumstances.

n   But the Psalmist shows us that it is a DECISION.

n   Today we discuss several attitudes of the Christian which can have a profound impact upon the world around us.

 1. Decision # 1: An Attitude of

   Humility and Yieldedness!

n   We live in a proud world of “ one –upmans-ship,” but God tells us that greatness begins not on our feet, but on our knees.

Isaiah 6:1-8

[1]  In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord  seated on a

throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the

           temple.

[2]  Above him were seraphs, each with six wings: With  two wings

they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and

          with two they were flying.

[3]  And they were calling to one another:

"Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of

         his glory.

[4]  At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook

and the temple was filled with smoke.”                                                                                                                                      CONT.

[5] "Woe to me!" I cried. "I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean

lips, and I live among a people of  unclean lips, and my eyes

have seen the King, the LORD Almighty."

[6] Then one of the seraphs flew to me with a live coal in his hand,

which he had taken with tongs from  the altar.

[7] With it he touched my mouth and said, "See, this has touched

your lips; your guilt is taken away  and your sin atoned for."

[8] Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send?

And who will go for us?" And I said,  “ Here am I. Send me!"

n   Humility leads to a “sold-out” spirit towards God. This is a completely submissive spirit. Priority issues are instantly resolved!

n   What effect will it have on the world to see us truly submissive?

2. Decision # 2 : An Attitude of

                 Openness!

n   Another has lifted our burden and made us free, and therefore, we have something to share!

Psalms 40: 1-3

[1]  “I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me

                    and heard my cry.

[2]   He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud

and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a

                   firm place to stand.

[3]  He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of  praise

to our God. Many will see and fear and put their

                 trust in the LORD.”

n   A comfortable and confident sharing of that which is MOST DEAR to us.

  I Peter 3:15

“But in your hearts set apart Christ as

Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer

to everyone who asks you to give the reason

for the hope that you have. But do this with

                       gentleness and respect,”

  3. Decision # 3:  An Attitude of Joy!

n   The Knowledge of eternal security should motivate us to be a Joyous people!

   1 John 5: 11

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal

life, and this life is in his Son.”

n   Is Joy really a decision?

   Philippians 1:18-21

[18] “But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every

way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached.

And because of this I rejoice.  Yes, and I will continue to

                     rejoice,

[19] for I know that through your prayers and the help  given by

the Spirit of Jesus Christ, what has happened to me will turn

                   out for my deliverance.”

                                                                                                CONT

[20] “I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way

be ashamed, but will  have sufficient courage

so that now as always Christ will be exalted in

my body, whether by life or by death.

[21]  For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”

  4. Decision # 4: An Attitude of                Thankfulness!

n   Paul describes this choice of attitude.

  Ephesians 5:18-20

[18] “Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery.

Instead, be filled with the Spirit.

[19]  Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and

spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your  heart to

            the Lord,

[20]  always giving thanks to God the Father for

everything, in the  name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

IF WE REALLY ARE TO HAVE THAT ATTITUDE OF VICTORIOUS LIVING;

  1. We Will Live Expectantly.

  2. We Will Live Enduringly.

  3. We Will  Live With The

  ----ATTITUDE OF CHRIST;

“I Must be  about My Fathers’

      Business.”

n   We have a choice of attitude which

will affect how the world sees us!
