WHO AM I

                      2 Samuel 7:18

Then King David went in and sat before the LORD, and he said:

"Who am I, O Sovereign LORD, and

what is my family, that you have

     brought me this far?”

David asks  the age old question, “WHO AM I ?” All people search for Identity. Many  times the quest consumes a person’s life.

n   Even the greatest servants of God have struggled with finding “who they were.” “Who am I” is asked 6 times in the OT. Once by Moses in Exodus 3:11, once by Solomon, and 4 times by David…Everyone yearns to know who they are- what their identity is!

n   Yet the places we look are often so absurd-

n  Parties

n  Substances

n  Relationships

n    Material Possessions

n    However, in Christ, the Bible

      tells us something of

                “WHO I AM…”

I. I AM GOD’S POSSESSION

         1 Corinthians 6:20

“…you were bought at a price.      Therefore honor God with your

            body.”

     - The Bible tells  me that I been

         “bought at a price.”

         I was “redeemed

         (bought back)                cont.

                     Romans 6:17-18

 (17) “But thanks be to God that, though you

used to be slaves to sin, you

           wholeheartedly obeyed the form of

teaching to which you were entrusted.

(18)   You have been set free from sin and

          have become slaves to righteousness.”

My value can be judged by what I am                         “WORTH.”

                     1 John 3:16

“This is how we know what love is:

Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.

And we ought to lay down our lives

      for our brothers.”

                                         cont.

II. I AM FORGIVEN

             Jeremiah 33:8

“I will cleanse them from all the    sin they have committed against      me and will forgive all their sins

       of rebellion against me.”

All of the mistakes and crimes of my

        past have been PARDONED!

                     Colossians 1:13-14

        (13) For he has rescued us from the

dominion of darkness and brought us

into the kingdom of the Son he loves,

       (14)  … in whom we have redemption,

                the forgiveness of sins.”

Therefore, I can live without anxiety of

          uncertainty.

                      WITHOUT FEAR!

                           1 John 1:7

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light,

we have fellowship with one another, and the

blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all

        sin.”

                              Romans 8:1

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation

for those who are in Christ Jesus,”

III. I AM COMPLETE.

 Colossians 2:10

“…and you have been given fullness in

Christ, who is the head over every power

     and authority.”

                    Ephesians 1:3

“Praise be to the God and Father of our

Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the

heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.”

n   In Christ, God has supplied me with everything I need.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

        (16) “All Scripture is God-breathed and is

                  useful for teaching, rebuking,

                  correcting and training in

                  righteousness,

         (17) so that the man of God may be

                thoroughly equipped for every good

                 work.”

In Him, my fate and victory are assured!

Romans 8: 37-39

   (37) “No, in all these things we are more than

conquerors through him who loved us.

   (38)  For I am convinced that neither death nor

life, neither angels nor demons, neither the

present nor the future, nor any powers,

    (39) neither height nor depth, nor anything else

in all creation, will be able to separate us

from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus

             our Lord. ‘

 2 Peter 1:3

His divine power has given us

everything  we need for life and

        godliness through our knowledge of

him who called us by his own glory and

       goodness.”

IV. I AM GOD’S CHILD

John 1:12

Yet to all who received him, to

those who believed in his name,

he gave the right to become

          children of God—”

n    We are made sons!

Galatians 4:4-6

    (4) “But when the time had fully come, God

sent his Son, born of a woman, born under

            law,

    (5)  to redeem those under law, that we might

receive the full rights of sons.

    (6) Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of

his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls

          out, "Abba, Father.”

n          We have been made

                HEIRS!

                 WHO AM I?

     Possession: forgiven;           complete;   CHILD!

     Why would I ever live

           like I am less?
